Liz Anderson (born March 13, 1930) is a pioneer in the female country singer-songwriter movement. Hailing from Minnesota, she found early success with hits such as “Mama Spank” and “Just Between the Two of Us.” Despite women being shut out of Nashville at the time, her work crossed over into the Top 40.
Anderson also made significant contributions to her daughter Lynn’s career by writing songs for her, notably “If I Kiss You (Will You Go Away).” She also wrote the hit tune “My Friends Are Gonna Be Strangers,” which helped propel Merle Haggard to fame.
