Lisa Velez, born on January 15, 1966, in New York City, is an American rock singer. She is best known as the lead member of the 1980s freestyle music group Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam.
Before her rise to fame, she attended Julia Richman High School in Manhattan and released her debut album “Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam with Full Force” in 1985.
In addition to her earlier success, after more than a decade since her last music release, she made a comeback by releasing the album “Life ‘n Love” on Mass Appeal Entertainment in 2009.
Velez comes from a Puerto Rican family based in New York City.
