About Lisa Kron
Lisa Kron (born May 20, 1961) is an American playwright best known for her work on Fun Home, which earned her a Tony Award for Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical in 2015.
Before gaining fame as a playwright, Kron was the valedictorian of her high school class and studied theater at Kalamazoo College. She also trained at the Chautauqua Professional Actors Studio and the British European Studies Group in London.
Upon moving to New York City in 1984, she worked various jobs while pursuing an acting career. She co-founded The Five Lesbian Brothers theater company and taught playwriting part-time at Yale University and New York University.
Kron is married to Madeleine George and comes from a family with strong ties to community activism. Her parents are Ann Kron, an antiques dealer and community activist, and Walter Kron, a lawyer. She has a brother named David Kron.
