About Lisa-Kainde Diaz
Lisa-Kainde Diaz (born December 13, 1994) is a French pop singer and one half of the musical duo Ibeyi. The group has gained recognition for singing in both English and Yoruba, releasing their debut self-titled album in 2015 featuring popular singles like “River” and “Stranger / Lover.”
Before her musical career took off, Diaz studied Yoruba folk songs growing up. She later delved into songwriting as part of Ibeyi.
In addition to her music career, she appeared in Beyoncé’s visual album Lemonade released in 2016 with her twin sister Naomi Diaz who makes up the other half of Ibeyi.
Diaz comes from a musical family with her Cuban percussionist father Anga Diaz also being renowned in the music industry. Her mother Maya Dagnino is a French-Venezuelan singer and works as Ibeyi’s manager. Unfortunately, they lost an older sister in 2013.
