Lisa Andersen, born on March 8, 1969 in Florida, is a renowned surfer and multiple-time World Champion. She secured four consecutive world titles from 1994 to 1997 and was subsequently inducted into the Surfer’s Hall of Fame. Additionally, Sports Illustrated recognized her as one of the Top 100 Greatest Sportswomen of the Century. In 2017, it was announced that a film adaptation based on her life story was in development.
Andersen’s surfing journey began at age 13 in Ormond Beach, Florida. After winning the United States Amateur Championship in 1987, she turned professional the following year. Notably, she collaborated with her sponsor Roxy to design women’s boardshorts that gained widespread popularity among female surfers.
In May 2008, Lisa Andersen married professional baseball player Tim Shannon with whom she has two children named Erika and Mason.
