Lillian Briggs, born on June 3, 1932 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, was a notable figure in the 1950s rock ‘n’ roll scene. With a nickname of “The Queen of Rock & Roll,” she gained recognition for her cover of “Shake, Rattle and Roll.”
Prior to her music career taking off, Briggs worked as a driver for a laundry truck to support her early musical pursuits. She also started her first group called The Downbeats.
Briggs made headlines with the release of her debut single “I Want You to Be My Baby” which sold one million copies in 1955.
In terms of personal life, Briggs never married.
