About Lexi Alexander
Lexi Alexander, born on August 23, 1974 in Mannheim, Germany, is a director and former karate champion. She is known for her 2005 film Green Street, which won both the jury and audience awards at South by Southwest. Additionally, she has directed Punisher: War Zone and Lifted.
Prior to her filmmaking career, Alexander grew up competing in karate and became a World Karate Association point-fighting champion when she was 19 years old. Notably vocal about gender equality issues within Hollywood, she received an Academy Award nomination in 2003 after directing the short film Johnny Flynton.
Alexander’s upbringing was in Germany where she hails from a Palestinian descent through her father.
