About Lenore Kandel
Lenore Kandel was a poet known for her association with the Beat Generation. She gained recognition for her controversial poetry chapbook, The Love Book, and later published a full-length collection titled World Alchemy in 1967.
Kandel was born on January 14, 1932 in New York City and eventually moved to San Francisco, where she became acquainted with renowned author Jack Kerouac. In addition to her writing, she had a cameo role in Kenneth Anger’s film Invocation of My Demon Brother in 1969.
She was married to poet Billy Fritsch and passed away from lung cancer in her seventies.
