About Leanne Lyons
Leanne Lyons, born on July 17, 1973 in The Bronx, New York, is an R&B singer best known for being one-third of the R&B group Sisters With Voices (SWV). The group gained fame with their debut studio album “It’s About Time” in 1992, which was certified multi-platinum and sold over 2 million copies. After disbanding in 1998, they reunited in 2005.
Prior to her music career, at age 16 Leanne dropped out of high school to support herself and her newborn daughter. SWV initially began performing as a gospel group in 1990. In August 2015, the group released the promo single “Ain’t No Man” as a preview for their fifth studio album.
Leanne was born and raised in The Bronx where she faced hardships after her father left the family when she was just ten years old. This left her mother to care for Leanne and her five siblings alone. By age seventeen, she became a mother of two.
