Leandra Becerra Lumbreras was a Mexican supercentenarian born on August 31, 1887. She gained fame for claiming to be the oldest living person in the world, purportedly reaching the age of 127 by 2014.
Prior to her notoriety as an elderly woman, Lumbreras led a group of women known as “Lumbreras” in combat during the Mexican Revolution and also had a romantic relationship with fellow revolutionary Margarito Maldonado. Notably, she attributed her longevity to chocolate and abundant sleep.
Born into a family of musicians in Mexico, Lumbreras never married but raised five children throughout her lifetime, outliving all of them.
