Laurie R. King is an American novelist known for her detective fiction, particularly the Mary Russell and Kate Martinelli mystery series. Born on September 19, 1952 in Colorado, she earned a degree in comparative religion from the University of California, Santa Cruz and furthered her studies at the Graduate Theological Union.
Her literary works include stand-alone titles such as Califia’s Daughters and Keeping Watch. King received both the John Creasey Memorial Award and the Nero Award for her contributions to detective fiction.
In 1977, she married Noel Quinton King with whom she had two children.
