Laurie Bird (September 26, 1953 – June 15, 1979) was an American movie actress known for her roles in the 1970s films Two-Lane Blacktop, Cockfighter, and Annie Hall. Unfortunately, she tragically ended her acting career by committing suicide at the young age of twenty-five.
Bird’s first film role was as The Girl in the 1971 feature Two-Lane Blacktop. This introduced her to director Monte Hellman, who became her lover. She has become a notable figure in literature as well; author Tim Kinsella referenced Bird’s name in the subtitle of his novel Let Go and Go On and On: Based on the Roles of Laurie Bird.
Born in New York City, Bird faced hardship early on with the loss of her mother at three years old. As a result, she had to partially take care of herself even while living with her father and two brothers.
