Laurie Anderson is an experimental performance artist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist born on June 5, 1947 in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. She is known for her work as a rock singer and for her iconic song “O Superman.” Additionally, she directed the concert film Home of the Brave in 1986.
Prior to gaining recognition as a musician, Anderson received her Master of Fine Arts in sculpting from Columbia University. She has also ventured into spoken word artistry, having released the album The Ugly One with the Jewels in 1995.
Anderson’s personal life includes marriage to Lou Reed, who served as the frontman of The Velvet Underground.
