Lauren Velez is a well-known TV actress, born on November 2, 1964 in Brooklyn, New York. She is recognized for her role as police detective Lt. Maria LaGuerta on Showtime’s Dexter. Prior to this, she also appeared in the series New York Undercover and Oz, and provided her voice for the 2018 film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Before gaining fame as an actress, Velez briefly played a groundhog in a school play. An interesting piece of trivia about her is that she portrayed Dr. Gloria Nathan in Oz before landing the part in Dexter.
