About Lauren Tarshis
Lauren Tarshis (born November 23, 1963) is an American novelist known for her works of historical fiction and young adult literature. She was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Tarshis is best known for her widely popular “I Survived” series, which includes books such as I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic, I Survived the Bombing of Pearl Harbor, and I Survived the Destruction of Pompeii.
Prior to gaining recognition as a novelist, she published her first literary work titled The Making of Ironweed in 1988. Notably, the illustrations for her “I Survived” series were done by artist Scott Dawson.
Tarshis resides with her husband and four children.
