Lauren Morelli is a screenwriter and producer best known for her work on hit Netflix series Orange is the New Black. After graduating high school, she studied dance at Marymount Manhattan College but was forced to give up her dreams when she suffered a bad back injury. Luckily, at the encouragement of one of her professors, Lauren switched gears and pursued writing instead – and even became a playwright! She’s openly lesbian, realizing her sexuality while working on Orange is the New Black; after divorcing her husband of two years in 2014, she began dating Samira Wiley – also an actress on OINTB. The pair married in 2017! Since then, Lauren has been busy as a staff writer for Jenji Kohan’s show.
