About Lauren Fleshman
Lauren Fleshman, born on September 26, 1981 in Los Angeles, California, is a distinguished runner known for her accomplishments. She won the U.S. 5000 meters championship in 2006 and 2010 and represented the United States at the IAAF World Championships in Athletics in 2003, 2005, and 2011. In addition to her success on the track, she has also participated in marathons and made her debut at the ING New York City Marathon in 2011, finishing in 12th place.
Prior to her professional career as a runner, Fleshman competed in track and field for Stanford University where she graduated in 2003 after earning accolades as a fifteen-time All-American and five-time NCAA champion. Her passion for running led her to co-found Picky Bars—a gluten- and dairy-free energy bar company—where she serves as creative director. Furthermore, she operates a running blog called Ask Lauren Fleshman.
Fleshman is married to triathlete Jesse Thomas with whom she has two children—a son and a daughter.
