About Lauren Barnes
Lauren Barnes is a professional soccer player born on May 31, 1989, in Arcadia, California. She began her career as a defender for the National Women’s Soccer League team OL Reign in 2013 and made her senior debut with Philadelphia Independence in 2011. Additionally, she has played on loan for Australian teams Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City as well as Swedish team Kristianstads DFF. Barnes has also represented the United States internationally in both the U20 and U23 series.
Prior to her professional career, Barnes played for Upland High School where she was highly rated by RISE Magazine and Soccer Buzz. She also earned the title of California’s Gatorade Player of the Year. After high school, she attended UCLA where she continued to excel in soccer and received numerous accolades including being named Third-Team NSCAA All-American during her senior year.
Barnes has had a successful tenure with OL Reign, helping them win multiple NWSL Shields and The Women’s Cup. In addition to club success, she also contributed to the United States national team’s victory at the SheBelieves Cup in 2016 and was awarded NWSL Defender of the Year that same year.
She is the daughter of Joyce and Gary Barnes.
