Laura Ulewicz Feet

Laura Ulewicz (born May 18, 1930 in Michigan) is an American poet known for her work “The Inheritance” and her receipt of a National Endowment for the Arts literary grant. Despite being associated with many beatnik poets, she never officially aligned herself with the Beat movement. Prior to gaining recognition as a poet, Ulewicz owned a coffee shop in San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury district since 1965 and held various odd jobs including working at a tomato cannery and as a Child Protection Services agent. Coming from a family of Detroit auto workers, she has roots in Polish-American heritage.
