Laura Carvalho (born March 3, 1984) is a Brazilian economist and professor at the University of Sao Paulo. She also serves as the director of the Research Center on Macroeconomics of Inequalities. Carvalho has gained popularity on Twitter for her advocacy and education regarding how economic policies impact inequality, amassing over 200,000 followers.Carvalho earned her PhD from The New School and is a fellow at the university’s economics think tank, SCEPA. In 2020, she published an article titled “Multi-Dimensional Inequality and COVID-19 in Brazil” in the Investigacion Economica journal.Notably, she is in a relationship with Renan Quinalha, who works as a professor at the Federal University of Sao Paulo.
