Laura Amy Schlitz Feet

Laura Amy Schlitz is a children’s author born on May 28, 1955, in Maryland. She is best known for her Newbery Medal-winning works such as Splendors and Glooms, Good Masters! Sweet Ladies! Voices from a Medieval Village, and A Drowned Maiden’s Hair: A Melodrama.

Prior to gaining fame as an author, Schlitz worked as a storyteller and librarian at a private school in Brooklandville, Maryland.

Interestingly, she also wrote a romance novel called A Gypsy at Almack’s using the pen name Chloe Cheshire.

Schlitz grew up in Maryland and graduated from Goucher College in 1977.
