Laila Morse was born on August 1, 1945, in Dorking, England. She is a renowned soap opera actress best known for her role as Mo Harris on the BBC soap opera EastEnders and her appearance in the 2011 film Big Fat Gypsy Gangster.
Before becoming an acclaimed actress, Morse was born Maureen Oldman and landed her first acting role in 1995 as Honky Mum on the series Honky Sausages.
Interestingly, she adopted the stage name Laila Morse, which is an anagram of “mia sorella,” meaning “my sister” in Italian.
On the personal front, Morse was married to Gerald Bromfield from 1962 to 1970 and James Bass from 1995 to 2001. She has two children – a son named Gerry and a daughter named Tracy.
