Kyra Phillips, born on August 8, 1968 in San Diego, California, is a renowned journalist known for her work as an award-winning CNN news anchor. She gained recognition for her coverage of the Persian Gulf War as an embedded reporter and extensive reporting on Iraq.
Prior to her celebrated career at CNN, Phillips worked as an investigative reporter for Los Angeles’s CBS Channel 2 and also served as a weekend anchor for WDSU-TV in New Orleans. Notably, she was one of the pioneering women to fly in an F-14 fighter jet during air-to-air combat simulations and was aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier during the 2003 Iraq invasion.
