Kristina Iswandari, known professionally as Kristina, was born on May 8, 1979, in Jakarta, Indonesia. She is a world music singer who gained fame as a Dangdut singer, actress, and spokesperson.
She began her career at the age of 12 and quickly rose to stardom despite initially preferring pop and more mainstream music over the Indian-influenced Indonesian Dangdut genre. In 1998, she learned cengkok and released her debut album “Berakhir Pula.”
Kristina has won several awards throughout her career, including Indonesian Female All Star and Best Female Dangdut Singer in 2002. She also received recognition for Best Dangdut Singer and Best Song in 2004.
In addition to her musical accomplishments, Kristina has ventured into acting by appearing in movies, series, and commercials.
She was married to politician Al Amin Nur Nasution until their divorce in 2009. Their marriage faced challenges with attempted divorces in both 2007 and 2008 being denied by religious courts before allowing them to part ways following Nasution’s involvement in a bribery scandal.
