About Kristin Kontrol
Kristin Kontrol, born Kristin Gundred on September 6, 1982 in San Leandro, California, is a pop singer also known as Dee Dee. She gained recognition as the founder and lead singer of the indie band Dum Dum Girls. In addition to her work with the band, she has pursued a solo career and released her debut solo album X-Communicate in 2016.
Prior to her music career taking off, Kontrol founded Dum Dum Girls in 2008 and independently released a five-song CDR on her own label Zoo Music. Before that, she was involved as the singer and drummer for the San Diego-based band Grand Ole Party.
Kontrol’s birth name is Kristin Gundred but later adopted the name Kristin Welchez professionally. Her father’s name is Donald.
