About Kiran Bedi
Kiran Bedi, born on June 9, 1949 in Amritsar, India, is an Indian social activist and politician. She is best known as the highest-ranking woman police officer in India and has also served as the Political Advisor to the Secretary General of the United Nations in the Department of Peacekeeping Operations. Bedi has represented India in various international forums on a range of issues.
Prior to her illustrious career, she obtained a Master’s degree in Political Science, a Bachelor of Laws, and Ph.D. in Social Sciences. In 1994, she was honored with the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay award for Government service.
Bedi married Brij Bedi in 1972 and together they have a daughter named Saina. Her parents are Prakash Peshawaria and Prem Peshawaria.
