About Kendra Harrison
Kendra Harrison is a hurdler born on September 18, 1992 in Tennessee. In July 2016, she achieved fame by breaking the world record in the women’s 100 meters hurdles that had stood for nearly thirty years. Prior to this accomplishment, she won NCAA titles in the 60 and 100 meters hurdles with the University of Kentucky Wildcats.
Before her rise to fame, Kendra played soccer before joining the track team at Clayton High School in North Carolina where she went on to win state titles in 2010 and 2011. In addition, at the 2014 SEC Championships, she became the first person to win both the 100 and 400 meters hurdles in the same year since 1999.
Kendra was adopted by Gary and Karon Harrison and grew up with ten other children, most of whom were also adopted.
