About Kelsey Smith-Briggs
Kelsey Smith-Briggs (December 28, 2002 – October 11, 2005) was a child abuse victim from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Her cause of death is listed as blunt force trauma to the abdomen and her parents were both charged with enabling child abuse.
During the last 9 months of her life, Kelsey suffered multiple injuries from child abuse including broken bones. The Kelsey Smith-Briggs Child Protection Reform Act was later passed in response to reform how child abuse cases are handled.
Her biological mother, Raye Dawn Smith, was convicted and sentenced to 27 years in prison while both parents were sentenced to more than 25 years.
