About Kazimira Prunskiene
Kazimira Prunskiene (born February 26, 1943) is a Lithuanian politician and member of the Lithuanian People’s Party. She made history as Lithuania’s first female Prime Minister, serving from 1990 to 1991, and has also led the Peasants and New Democratic Party Union.
Before pursuing a career in politics, Prunskiene briefly worked as an instructor at Vilnius University following her graduation from the school in 1965. Throughout her political career, she has held prominent positions such as Lithuania’s Minister of Agriculture and membership in the Council of Women World Leaders.
Prunskiene had three children with her first husband before marrying Algimantas Tarvidas in 1989.
