Kay Francis (born January 13, 1905) was an American movie actress known for her extravagant lifestyle and status as one of the highest-earning actresses of the 1930s.
Francis began her career with several bit parts in Hollywood before securing a contract with Paramount, rumored to be influenced by her affair with one of the studio’s directors. Later, she signed with Warner Brothers where she had a devoted following, especially among men drawn to her distinctive style.
She was born Katherine Edwina Gibbs in Oklahoma City to parents Katherine Clinton and later found success in acting much like her mother.
