About Kay A. Orr
Kay A. Orr, born on January 2, 1939 in Iowa, is a Republican politician who made history by becoming the first female to be elected governor of Nebraska. She held this office from 1987 to 1991. Prior to her political career, she attended the University of Iowa before relocating to Nebraska with her family and volunteering as a Republican Party worker.
Aside from her gubernatorial role, Orr has also served as a presidential elector for the state of Nebraska on two occasions. Family-wise, she had two children with her spouse William Dayton Orr.
