Katy Tur (born October 26, 1983) is an American author and broadcast journalist best known for her work as a correspondent for NBC News in New York City. She is also an anchor of MSNBC Live and reports for other news platforms through NBC News and affiliates.
Tur attended the University of California, Santa Barbara and graduated in 2005 with a degree in Philosophy. She began her career as a broadcast journalist for various networks including KTLA and The Weather Channel before joining NBC News in 2009.
She has received numerous awards for her journalism, including the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism in 2017. Tur was born and raised in Los Angeles, California to parents who were also journalists. In 2017, she married Tony Dokoupil, a correspondent for CBS News. They have two children together: Teddy (born April 13th, 2019) and Eloise (born May 13th, 2021), as well as two stepchildren from Dokoupil’s previous marriage.
