About Kathy Staff
Kathy Staff (July 12, 1928 – 13 December 2008) was an English TV actress best known for her role as Nora Batty on the long-running sitcom Last of The Summer Wine. She appeared in all 245 episodes from the show’s pilot in 1973 until her passing. Additionally, she had a recurring role as Doris Luke in the ATV soap opera, Crossroads.
Prior to her fame, Staff began her television acting career with Granada TV in the 1960s and later pursued political interests by standing as a candidate for the Conservative Party.
Born Minnie Higginbottom, she adopted the stage name Katherine Brant in 1946 when she entered the acting profession. In personal life, Staff was married to John Staff for over five decades before his death.
