About Kathy Augustine
Kathy Augustine (born May 29, 1956) was an American politician from California. She was a member of the Republican Party and served in both the Nevada Assembly and the Nevada Senate. Augustine made history as the first woman to hold the office of Nevada State Controller.
Before entering politics, she graduated from Occidental College with an undergraduate degree in political science and went on to earn a Master of Public Administration from California State University, Long Beach.
Tragically, Augustine was murdered in 2006. Her fourth husband, Chaz Higgs, was convicted of the crime. She grew up in Los Angeles, California and came from a family with Italian heritage. Throughout her life she was married four times; her longest marriage was to commercial airline pilot Charles Augustine who passed away in 2003.
