About Kathryn Lasky
Kathryn Lasky (born June 24, 1944) is an American young adult fiction author known for her popular series such as Dear America, Royal Diaries, and Guardians of Ga’Hoole. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and later graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in English. Additionally, she studied early childhood education at Wheelock College.
Aside from her successful series books, Lasky has also authored stand-alone novels such as Blood Secret, True North, and Hawksmaid. Notably, her Guardians of Ga’Hoole series inspired a 2010 animated film of the same name.
Lasky’s personal life includes being in a longtime partnership with Christopher Knight.
