Kathleen Rooney (born March 2, 1980) is an American writer, publisher, editor and educator. She hails from Beckley, West Virginia and is known for her works including poetry collections and the novels O, Democracy! (2014), Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk (2017), and Cher Ami and Major Whittlesey (2020).
Rooney earned a BA from the George Washington University and a MFA in Writing, Literature, and Publishing from Emerson College. Notably, she co-founded Rose Metal Press, an independent not-for-profit publishing house with Abigail Beckel in 2006.
In addition to her literary pursuits, Rooney enjoys a significant following on Twitter where she has more than 5,000 followers. She is married to writer Martin Seay.
