About Katherine Reutter
Katherine Reutter is an American speed skater and coach, born on July 30, 1988 in Illinois. She made her Olympic debut in 2010 and won bronze in the 3,000-meter relay and silver in the 1,000 meters. In 2011, she won her first World Short Track Speed Skating Championship gold medal in the 1,500 meters.
Prior to her success as a speed skater, Reutter grew up in Champaign, Illinois and began training seriously after meeting Olympic gold medal-winning speed skater Bonnie Blair while in high school.
In December 2009, she appeared on an episode of the Comedy Central show The Colbert Report where host Stephen Colbert autographed her thigh. Her parents are Beth and Jay Reutter.
