About Katherine Paterson
Katherine Paterson (born October 31, 1932) is a renowned children’s author known for her works including “Bridge to Terabithia,” “Jacob Have I Loved,” and “The Master Puppeteer.” Born in Huai’an, China, to American missionary parents, she grew up speaking Chinese as her first language.
Paterson made her debut in children’s fiction with “The Sign of the Chrysanthemum” in the mid-1970s. She has received numerous literary honors such as the Hans Christian Andersen Award, the Newbery Medal, and the National Book Award.
She later settled in Vermont with her Presbyterian minister husband.
