About Katherine Anderson
Katherine Anderson (born January 16, 1944 in Michigan) is a soul singer best known for her work as a backup vocalist for the all-female vocal ensemble The Marvelettes during the 1960s. She was part of the group’s success with hit singles such as “Don’t Mess with Bill” and “Please Mr. Postman.”
Prior to achieving fame, Anderson was a founding member of the vocal group The Casinyets during her high school years. After successfully auditioning for Motown Records, she and her collaborators changed their group’s name to The Marvels and later to The Marvelettes.
After The Marvelettes disbanded in 1970, Anderson briefly pursued a solo music career before focusing on raising her two daughters: Kalaine and Keisha.
