Katharine Ross is an American actress born on January 29, 1940, in Los Angeles, California. She is best known for her roles as Elaine Robinson in The Graduate and Etta Place in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Her performance in The Graduate earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress, while her role in Butch Cassidy won her a BAFTA Award for Best Actress.
Prior to gaining fame on the big screen, Ross acted in several stage productions in San Francisco. She also made appearances in popular TV series of the 1960s such as The Virginian, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, and Gunsmoke.
