About Katerina Tikhonova
Katerina Tikhonova, born on August 31, 1986 in Dresden, Germany, is a Russian scientist and former acrobatic dancer. She is the daughter of Vladimir Putin and served as the Deputy Director of the Institute for Mathematical Research of Complex Systems at Moscow State University.
Before gaining public attention, she dropped her father’s surname and adopted her maternal grandmother’s name. Tikhonova holds a PhD in Physics and Mathematics.
Besides her academic pursuits, she also competed in acrobatic rock’n’roll. In 2014, she achieved second place with her partner during the Russian Championship competition.
Tikhonova was previously married to Kirill Shamalov. Her mother is Lyudmila Putina and she has a sister named Dr. Maria Vorontsova.
