About Katerina Stefanidi
Katerina Stefanidi is a Greek pole vaulter, born on February 4, 1990. She achieved international recognition by winning the gold medal at the 2016 Olympic Games. Prior to this accomplishment, she also competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics and secured first-place victories at events such as the 2017 World Outdoor, 2018 European Outdoor, 2017 European Indoor, and the 2017 Diamond League.
Before rising to fame in the world of pole vaulting, Stefanidi had already demonstrated her athletic prowess by winning the National High School Championships and claiming gold at the 2006 Gymnasiade.
Stefanidi furthered her education by earning a master’s degree in cognitive psychology from Arizona State University. Beyond her academic achievements and successful sports career, she has built a family life with her husband Mitchell Krier whom she married in 2015. Her parents are Zoi and George Stefanidi.
