About Kate Forbes
Kate Forbes is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party. She was born in Scotland on January 1, 1990.
Forbes served as the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and the Economy before declaring her candidacy for Leader of the SNP and First Minister of Scotland on February 20, 2023.
Prior to entering politics, Forbes spent several years living in India as a child. She graduated from Selwyn College at the University of Cambridge with a Bachelor of Arts in History before furthering her studies at the University of Edinburgh.
Forbes worked for Oxfam Scotland as a campaigns and policy officer, gained experience as a chartered accountant while working for Barclays, and was elected to the Scottish Parliament in the 2016 election. She is also known for being a member of the Free Church of Scotland.
