Karolina Andreyevna Sevastyanova is a Ukrainian-born Russian rhythmic gymnast who was born on April 25, 1995 in Kyiv, Ukraine. She later grew up in Moscow, Russia. Sevastyanova gained recognition for her accomplishments as part of the 2012 Olympic team that won gold in the group rhythmic dancing event. She also was a member of the group that secured a gold medal at the 2012 Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships.
Before rising to fame as an Olympic champion, she had already made a mark in the sport by being a member of the Russian rhythmic dancing group that clinched a gold medal at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games.
In addition to her sporting achievements, Sevastyanova has garnered attention outside of gymnastics. In 2015, she graced the cover of Maxim Magazine’s Russian edition.
An interesting tidbit about Sevastyanova is that leading up to the 2012 Summer Olympics, her team’s diet consisted solely of buckwheat for six months.
