About Karen Webb
Karen Webb is an Australian law enforcement officer who made history as the first woman to serve as the Commissioner of the New South Wales Police Force. Born in Australia on January 1, 1111, Webb joined the New South Wales Police in 1987 and has held various roles within the organization.
Throughout her career, she has worked in units such as the Child Mistreatment Unit, Drug Enforcement Agency, Detectives Training Unit, and also held command positions at Forensic Services Group. In February 2022, she was formally appointed as Commissioner of the NSW Police Force.
While Webb’s tenure has brought recognition for her achievements including being awarded with the Australian Police Medal in the 2015 Australia Day Honours and subsequent promotions to assistant commissioner in 2017 and deputy commissioner in July of 2021; it has not been without controversy. In one instance, a 95-year-old great-grandmother was Tasered by one of her officers resulting in criticism toward Webb that occurred during her time as Commissioner.
Beyond her professional life, Karen shares a family with husband Marc Webb and two sons. Her husband worked at a Maserati dealership which is independent from her notable career accomplishments.
