About Karen Cater Peterson
Karen Carter Peterson is a politician and member of the Democratic party, who currently serves as a state Senator for Louisiana. Born on November 1, 1969 in Louisiana, she grew up in New Orleans and received her law degree from Tulane University.
In addition to serving as a state Senator, Peterson previously served in the House of Representatives. She made history as the first female chair of Louisiana’s Democratic Party and also appeared in Spike Lee’s documentary about Hurricane Katrina in 2006.
She is married to political consultant Dana Peterson, but they do not have children.
