Kara Wolters, born on August 15, 1975 in Massachusetts, is a former professional basketball player known for her career as a center. She was given the nickname “Big Girl” and holds the distinction of being the tallest player in UConn women’s basketball history as well as one of the tallest players in WNBA history, standing at 6’7″.

Wolters achieved notable success throughout her career, winning an NCAA title with the Huskies in 1995, a WNBA Championship with the Houston Comets in 1999, and an Olympic gold medal with Team USA in 2000. Before rising to prominence as a professional athlete, she honed her skills by playing high school basketball in her hometown of Holliston, Massachusetts. In her final year at UConn in 1997, she earned recognition by being voted the AP College Player of the Year.

Throughout her USA Basketball career, Wolters left a lasting impact and finished as the second-leading shot-blocker in USA World Championship history. Outside of her athletic pursuits, she has built a family life after marrying Sean Drinan in 2004 and welcoming two daughters named Sydney and Delaney into their family.
