Kara Goucher is an American long-distance runner born on July 9, 1978, in New York. She is renowned for medalling in the 10,000 meters at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics and representing the U.S. at the 2008 and 2012 Olympic games.
Before her prominent career, she was a three-time NCAA National Champion at the University of Colorado. Goucher established herself as a cross-country star during high school at Duluth East High School in Duluth, Minnesota.
In addition to her professional achievements, Kara Goucher set an American record at the Great North Run with a time of 1:06:57 in 2007. She is married to fellow Olympic long-distance runner Adam Goucher and has a son named Colton with him.
