About Julie Pomagalski
Julie Pomagalski (born October 10, 1980) was a French competitive snowboarder known for her participation in the 2002 and 2006 Winter Olympics. Tragically, she passed away at the age of 40 in an avalanche in Switzerland on March 23rd, 2021.
Before gaining fame as a snowboarder, Julie was the granddaughter of Jean Pomagalski, who founded the Poma ski lift manufacturing company.
In addition to her Olympic appearances, Julie also competed in the FIS Snowboarding World Championships in 1999 and 2003. She performed remarkably well, winning a gold medal in the snowboard cross event and earning a silver medal in the parallel giant slalom.
Julie resided in Meribel where she operated a ski shop and school within this popular skiing destination.
