About Julie Payette
Julie Payette, born on October 20, 1963 in Montreal, Canada, is a renowned astronaut who served as the Chief Astronaut of the Canadian Space Agency from 2001 to 2007. She was an integral part of the STS missions 96 and 127 and flew on two spaceflight missions while also serving as CAPCOM (Capsule Communicator) in Houston.
Before venturing into space exploration, Payette worked as a systems engineer for IBM. She later pursued her graduate education at the University of Toronto.
In 2017, Julie Payette ascended to become the governor general of Canada. In her personal life, she is married to test pilot William Flynn and they have one son together.
